Jixia International Student Academic Forum Successfully Held
To foster a vibrant academic atmosphere on campus and build a high‑quality platform for international postgraduates to present their research achievements, exchange academic ideas and engage in intellectual discussions, the Jixia International Student Academic Forum held successfully in Room 414 of the School of International Education on the afternoon of May 28. Professor Guo Yanyin from the School of Agricultural Engineering and Food Science was invited as the guest commentator. The forum drew active participation from international postgraduates majoring in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and other disciplines. It was hosted by international student MUDASSAR MUHAMMAD.
The event was permeated with a strong academic vibe. Two outstanding international postgraduates took the stage in succession. Combining their respective research focuses and research practices, they delivered brilliant academic presentations, fully demonstrating solid professional competence and innovative research thinking.

ASIM MUHAMMAD, a PhD candidate majoring in Agricultural Engineering of the 2019 intake, addressed practical bottlenecks in the field of agricultural engineering. He conducted in‑depth research by adopting cutting‑edge technical approaches, sorted out research pathways in a targeted manner, analyzed core challenges, and put forward systematic, practical and innovative solutions, offering new insights for optimizing engineering practices in relevant fields.

MUHAMMAD RASHID, a PhD candidate majoring in Chemical Engineering and Technology of the 2024 intake, stepped beyond conventional research frameworks. From brand‑new research perspectives, he focused on key technical challenges within his field, dissected research difficulties layer by layer and analyzed existing problems. He summarized several constructive viewpoints of great reference value, which provided fresh ideas for research in the same discipline. Both students delivered logically sound, substantial and innovative presentations, winning rounds of applause from teachers and students present.

Upon the conclusion of the presentation session, Professor Guo Yanyin offered detailed and professional reviews of the two academic reports from multiple perspectives including disciplinary characteristics and interdisciplinary integrated development. He fully acknowledged the presenters’ research attitudes, research highlights and innovative breakthroughs, and recognized the phased achievements made by international postgraduates in their research explorations. Meanwhile, with regard to academic norms, research depth and content completeness, he pinpointed deficiencies and room for improvement in their studies and put forward concrete and actionable suggestions for revision.
As a special academic event within the series of activities marking the university’s 70th anniversary, the Jixia International Student Academic Forum showcased in an all‑round and multi‑dimensional manner the fine research ethos and fruitful phased research outcomes of the university’s international postgraduates. It facilitated idea exchange and academic progress among students of diverse disciplines and nationalities. Going forward, the School of International Education will enrich event connotations and broaden dimensions of communication. It will keep building high‑level platforms for international students for academic exchange, research demonstration and capacity improvement. These efforts will help advance quality‑oriented development of education for international students in China and inject sustained and vibrant academic momentum into the university’s internationalization drive.
