To gain a comprehensive understanding of the academic performance of international students at our university, accurately improve teaching administration, and raise the standards of talent training and student services, the School of International Education held this semester’s mid‑semester teaching symposium in the conference room on the afternoon of May 14. Present at the meeting were school administrators, teaching supervisors, staff from relevant departments and faculty representatives.

At the outset of the symposium, the head of the Teaching Affairs Office reported on the mid‑semester teaching inspection. Focusing on classroom teaching order, student attendance, teaching environment support and other matters, he objectively outlined the current situation and pointed out existing problems. Afterwards, teaching supervisors delivered comprehensive feedback based on classroom observations from the first half of the semester. They fully recognized the overall teaching effectiveness: most teachers demonstrate rigorous and earnest teaching attitudes, set clear teaching objectives, deliver substantial course content and adopt flexible and diverse teaching methods, achieving sound classroom outcomes. Meanwhile, targeted suggestions for improvement were put forward concerning key aspects including classroom discipline management, teaching pace control, implementation of process‑oriented assessment, standardization of blackboard writing and lecture language, as well as coverage of teacher‑student interaction.

During the exchange session, faculty representatives shared their views. Drawing on front‑line teaching experience, they shared practical experience and discussed solutions for common classroom challenges such as classroom discipline administration, supervision over student attendance, standardization of classroom conduct, and effective teacher‑student interaction.

Towards the end of the meeting, the Dean of the school delivered concluding remarks. He put forward concrete work requirements and directions for improvement from multiple dimensions: optimizing teaching environments, refining classroom management, enhancing teachers’ lesson‑preparation quality, innovating curriculum design and boosting teaching competence. He also extended sincere gratitude to all teachers for their dedication to teaching international students. The school will carefully sort out and adopt opinions and suggestions collected at this symposium, continuously refine the teaching administration model for international students, specify talent‑training measures, and promote high‑quality development of the university’s education for international students in China.
