On the afternoon of May 7, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the university, the founding conference of the Kazakhstan Alumni Association was held in the Confucius Hall of the School of International Education. Chen Shengwei, Member of the University Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice President, attended the event and delivered a speech. The person-in-charge of the Office of Cooperation and Development, leadership team members of the School of International Education, faculty representatives and current international students attended the conference, while alumni residing in Kazakhstan joined the meeting online.

In his speech,Vice President Chen Shengwei extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Kazakhstan Alumni Association. He fully recognized the outstanding image demonstrated by alumni based in Kazakhstan, who have taken root locally and worked diligently across all walks of life. He pointed out that the Kazakhstan Alumni Association serves as a vital platform for the university to deepen connections with overseas alumni and advance international exchanges and cooperation. He expressed his hope that the association will earnestly shoulder its responsibilities, act as a solid bond linking the alma mater and overseas alumni, and contribute the strength of Shandong University of Technology to deepening China-Kazakhstan friendship.

During the conference, the person-in-charge of the Office of Cooperation and Development read out the Official Approval on the Establishment of the Kazakhstan Alumni Association of Shandong University of Technology. Vice President Chen Shengwei presented the association flag and plaque to the Kazakhstan Alumni Association, and issued appointment certificates to its management members.

Moli, President of the Kazakhstan Alumni Association, delivered a speech. She expressed gratitude for the long-term care and cultivation from the alma mater. She pledged to rally alumni in Kazakhstan, proactively build bridges for cooperation, wholeheartedly support alumni’s growth and career development, and facilitate friendly exchanges between China and Kazakhstan in education and culture. Xiaolong, Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, produced a special video to celebrate the founding of the association.

It is reported that the Kazakhstan Alumni Association is the university’s first overseas alumni association for international students. Its founding further improves the university’s overseas alumni service network and injects new momentum into deepening educational and cultural exchanges between China and Kazakhstan as well as advancing the internationalized development of the university.
