To celebrate International Chinese Language Day and World Book Day, promote fine traditional Chinese culture, and enable international students to deeply experience the charm of Qi Culture, the International Student Branch of the Poetry Society of Shandong University of Technology organized the international students to visit the Qi Culture Classics Center in Zhangdian District, Zibo City on the afternoon of April 22, launching a cultural experience event themed Reading Shandong, Echoes Worldwide. The students traced the cultural heritage of the Qi region amid tech-enabled immersive exhibitions and felt the warmth of intangible cultural heritage through traditional rubbings.

Guided by interpreters, the international students toured the Qi Culture Classics Center in order. Blending modern technology with traditional culture, the venue adopts diverse approaches including digital displays, multimedia interactions and immersive videos to vividly unfold the historical evolution, ancient texts and humanistic spirit of Qi Culture. The students paused to observe, engaged in hands-on experiences and recited classics in unison. Surrounded by integrated audio, light and visual effects, they were fully immersed in the profound heritage and contemporary vitality of thousand-year-old Qi Culture.

Later, the participants took part in a traditional rubbing workshop. Under the meticulous guidance of instructors, the international students dipped ink, laid paper, tapped gently and peeled off the paper to create simple yet elegant rubbing artworks with their own hands. Through the craft at their fingertips, they appreciated the beauty of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and captured cultural memories in a distinctive way.

Meticulously arranged by the International Student Branch of the university’s Poetry Society, this event integrated cultural sightseeing, technological experiences and intangible cultural heritage practice. It allowed international students to understand Qi Culture and engage with Chinese classics in immersive settings, greatly enhancing their cultural perception and cross-cultural communication experience. Going forward, the branch will continue to build platforms for cultural exchange, helping international students draw closer to fine traditional Chinese culture and act as friendly envoys facilitating mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
