As the National Day holiday approaches, to ensure international students in China have a safe and peaceful holiday, the School of International Education has organized all counselors to conduct special safety education sessions in international student classes in batches, while simultaneously carrying out targeted safety inspections in dormitories, building a strong safety net for the students' holiday well-being.

Given the large class sizes and diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds of international students, to avoid overcrowding and ensure efficient dissemination of safety knowledge, the counselors specifically adopted an education model of conducting sessions in batches and implementing them class by class. Starting from September 25, counselors have been conducting safety education by class according to the plan. This approach not only provides sufficient time for each international student to ask questions but also allows counselors to repeatedly explain difficult points to ensure the safety essentials are heard, understood, and internalized.

To enhance the relevance of the education, the Student Affairs Office focused on high-frequency scenarios in the lives of international students in China, compiling typical safety cases in advance and creating a unified, visually appealing PowerPoint presentation. During the meetings, counselors, using these cases, emphasized key reminders: when traveling, students should opt for public transportation such as buses and licensed ride-hailing services; for those staying on campus, the core content was dormitory electricity and fire safety, explicitly prohibiting the use of high-power appliances like electric heaters and induction cookers, and explaining the dangers of unauthorized wiring, helping international students quickly grasp the essentials of safe living.

While the class-based education was being rolled out, the Student Affairs Office also led a safety inspection of international student dormitories. Counselors visited room by room, focusing on three key areas: first, whether any dormitories were using prohibited electrical appliances or had unauthorized wiring; second, whether emergency exits were clear of obstructions; and third, whether fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment were in good working order.

This combination of batch-based education and targeted inspections is an important practice to focus on the needs of international students and ensure holiday safety. Moving forward, the school will also continue to push out multilingual safety reminders through international student WeChat groups, maintaining a 24-hour contact channel to ensure that international students can receive immediate assistance if any issues arise, ensuring a safe National Day holiday.
