
Attending Confucius Cultural Festival in Qufu
On the occasion of the 2575th anniversary of the birth of Confucius, the great philosopher, educator and founder of Confucianism, the institute organized international student representatives to attend the Confucius Culture Festival in Qufu, Jining on September 27-28, at the invitation of the China Confucius Network, in order to experience the charm of Confucian culture and allow international students to deeply feel the charm of Confucius.
On the evening of the 27th, students participated in the opening ceremony of the Confucius Culture Festival and the award ceremony of the UNESCO Confucius Education Award. At the venue, international students felt the importance attached by the Ministry of Education and the provincial party committee and government to Confucian culture, witnessed the exchange and dissemination of Confucian ideas worldwide, listened to various forms of performances such as Confucian style symphonies, ethnic operas, situational dramas, and plays, and were deeply shocked. They have personally experienced the influence of Confucian culture on contemporary China and the world today.
On the morning of the 28th, student representatives went to the Confucius Temple to participate in the Jiachen Year Public Sacrifice to Confucius. The students watched the grand opening ceremony of the city gate and the ceremony of worshipping Confucius. Although they were not very familiar with the meaning of classical Chinese sacrificial texts, they were very interested and kept asking the teacher questions. At the end of the ceremony, the students followed everyone to bow three times to Confucius, expressing respect for him and agreement with Confucian culture.
On the afternoon of the 28th, students started the Bathing and Singing cultural tourism experience field observation activity. At the Confucius Museum, I personally experienced the historical background of Confucius' life, learned about the formation process of Confucianism, and gained a practical understanding of the Doctrine of the Mean in Confucianism through the bucket experiment.
In the Confucius Temple and Confucius Mansion, the students visited the memorial archway, the statue of Confucius, the thousand year old cypress tree and other cultural relics, felt the importance attached to Confucius by all dynasties, and also experienced the inheritance and development of today's Confucianism, and said that they would read more Confucian classics in the future to feel the charm of Chinese culture.
Through this event, international students were deeply exposed to Confucius and Confucianism, experiencing firsthand the influence of Confucianism on China and the world, inspiring their enthusiasm for exploring Chinese culture, and deepening their understanding and friendship with China.
